Wipro may expand its Kochi base
Wipro chairman Mr. Azim Premji has expressed his interest to expand his company to Kochi. Mr. Premji is very much satisfied with the efforts of Kerala Information Technology Department to make State as a natural hub for information technology (IT) and IT-enabled services.
Hence Wipro is now looking forward to set up its Kochi BPO division. Wipro is one of the major players in IT & ITES services in Indian IT industry.
It is having its full-fledged private campus at Infopark in Kakkanad. The company has a 10-hectare campus with a built-up space of 10 lakh sq. ft. Around 1,900 employees are working over here. It has both international and domestic clients. It's exporting its software products to some of the developed nations as well.
After Mr. Mr. Premji's announcement, it has been expected that the company may focus on developing its business process outsourcing (BPO) ventures in the state capital.
As per sources Kerala Chief Minister Mr. V. S. Achuthanandan has requested Mr. Premji to enhance its service in the state during the course of their meeting. The Wipro chairman has also agreed to expand the campus with its BPO unit.
