Tata Steel's crude steel production exceeds installed capacity
Last year, Tata Steel has gone through expansion and after completing its expansion, this is the first time, company’s crude steel production exceed its installed capacity. It has been recorded that company’s production has increased by 4.4% over 6.564 mt for FY 2009-10.
The steel major installed capacity is 6.800 mt and company has shown an overall improvement with crude steel production of 6.855 million tonne (mt) surpassing its installed capacity in 2010-11.
There has been a hike of 3.8% and 3.9% in higher hot metal and saleable steel production of 6.855 mt (6.564 mt) and 7.503 mt (7.231 mt) in the year just ended as compared to the figures of last year. With regard to Tata Steel sales, it has recorded a 4% rise at 6.414 mt (6.169 mt), its long products show a hike of 7% at 2.876 mt (2.697 mt) and its flat products saw a 2% rise in sales at 3.538 mt (3.472 mt).
This is the first time in the history of the company that the company’s flat product division has recorded one million-mark in sales by selling 1.043 mt during the year, an 18% rise over the previous year’s figure. While its skin panel recorded an increase of 49% at sales of 0.049 mt against last year’s figures.
