The Airlines have been demanding a steep hike in the air fares which has been approved by the aviation ministry. The air traffic has seen a growth of 18.3% in the last 8-9 months and is expected to grow.

The airlines have got the price hike but they will not have their free run in hiking the prices. It is now mandatory for the airline websites to have the route wise information about the fares for the different fare brackets. This will increase the transparency for the travelers and help them plan their travel in a more economical manner.

The pilots at the state run Indian Airlines are opposing the management's plans to recruit more than 100 new pilots for Air India.

The existing pilots say that the company should not recruit new pilots because it is going thorough a financial crisis and moreover the airline is under utilizing its current staff. The airline reported losses of over 12,600 crore and it is yet to pay out salaries to more than 32,000 employees for the month of March.
