HCL Tech shares gain on winning multi-year contract from Ford

Information technology consulting and software firm HCL Technologies limited yesterday announced that it had won an infrastructure management services contract worth $100 million from auto giant Ford Motor Co.

The infrastructure management services contract from the US-based automaker will span over a period of five years.

The Business Standard reported, "The value of the five-year contract is estimated to be close to $100 million approximately Rs 544 crore."

The net profit of HCL has gone up to Rs. 285.97 crore for the quarter ended December 2010. There is a hike of 12 per cent as compared to the last year's profit. Last financial year the profit of the company was of Rs. 255.44 crore. This has been stated by the HCL Technologies on Wednesday.

The company has said in a statement that the total income of the company has increased to Rs. 1, 687.59 crore. It was Rs. 1259.22 crore during the quarter under review.

HCL Info systems share went as high as Rs 121.80 and touched an intraday low of Rs 115.90. At 09:11 hrs the share was trading at Rs 118.10, which is a raise by Rs 5.20, or 4.61%.

CNBC-TV18 has reported that HCL Info systems spent USD 6.5 million and bought 60% stake in Dubai-based NTS.

It was trading with a total no of 71,010 shares. Yesterday the share closed at Rs 112.90 which is down in the tune of 0.22% or Rs 0.25

On Thursday, one of India's leading IT player, HCL Corp sold 2.5 per cent of its stake in HCL Technologies.

The company sold 16.75 million shares in its subsidiary on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

As per the reports, the sale proceeds will be given to Shiv Nadar Foundation. This money then will be used for philanthropic activities and initiatives.

India's leading IT Services Company HCL Technologies has managed to get a $500-million strategic IT outsourcing contract from the Merck Sharp and Dohme (MSD). The company is located at US and one of the largest drug makers in the world, while HCL Technologies is the fifth largest IT firm of the country.

As per reports there has not been a large size deal for the Indian companies in last two years. After the global economic slowdown and recession, this has been the highest ever deal for any Indian IT firm.

HCL launches upgraded Beanstalk desktops

HCL Infosystems has announced the launch of upgraded version of its Beanstalk desktops aimed at the home personal computer segment in the country.

The new Beanstalk will come in three new models; Beanstalk Classic, Beanstalk Ultima and Beanstalk Xtreme each having its own target market. The computer will be powered by Core i3, i5 CPUs while the Beanstalk Ultima and Beanstalk Xtreme will be the first desktop in the country to run on i7 processor.

All the computers will run Windows 7 OS. The new Beanstalk range will be priced between Rs. 39,990 to Rs. 85,000.

HCL Tech Signs 5-year Deal with Electrolux

HCL+ElectroluxIT major HCL Technologies has signed a five-year, IT infrastructure management contract with Electrolux, which is a home appliances maker.

HCL will be able to hold up Electrolux's workplace services including proactive monitoring and management of network, servers, IT security and end-user computing environment in the Asia Pacific region, shared HCL Technologies in a statement.
