GMR group secures airport project in Philippines

A consortium of GMR group and Megawide has secured a US$ 700 million contract to develop and operate the Mactan-Cebu International Airport in the Philippines.

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) of Philippines has awarded the contract to the consortium. The project worth US$ 700 million includes US$ 320 million upfront payment to the Philippines government, according to a GMR official.

GMR inks agreement with CFM International

GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd has announced that it has inked a pact with world’s leading aircraft engine manufacturer CFM International.

GMR has entered into the agreement with the aim to install CFM56 maintenance training centre to support its clientele in the South Asian region.

CFM International is a 50:50 joint venture between Snecma (Safran Group) of France and General Electric Company of the United States.

The sources informed that the centre, which will be on stream by January 2010, will be located in the GMR Aerospace Park.

GMR Plans To Buy Coal Mines In Indonesia

GMR Group, a leading private sector organization having interests in infrastructure and agri-business, announced that it intends to acquire 100-150 million tonne capacity coal mine in Indonesia to feed 1,500 megawatt power generation capacity for 20 years.

According to sources, the proposed deal is likely to strike within coming three months.
