Ficci urges FM to roll back 5 pc service tax on healthcare

Indian Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee has been urged by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to roll back his Budget suggestion of imposing a 5% service tax on treatment and health check-ups at air-conditioned private medical institutions of over-25 beds as well as diagnostic laboratories.

FICCI is organizing a seminar on “Proposed Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) and TRIPS on May 28, 2010, with a view to address the issues and implications to the proposed anti-counterfeiting trade agreement and TRIPS. The event is going to be organized at the FICCI premises, Federation House, Tansen Marg, New Delhi.

FICCI warns large scale lay-offs

The industry body FICCI demanded help from the union government to save Indian Textile industry from ongoing world economic crisis. The domestic textile industry is facing low demand and low growth rate amid global slowdown. Asking for special package for the industry, FICCI said that financial help from the government is imperative to face new challenges. Some neighbor countries have already announced special package for their textile industry. Recently, Pakistan announced special incentive for its textile industry.
