COAI welcomes Trai’s firm stance on spectrum reserve price cuts

The Cellular Operators Associations of India (COAI) on Wednesday welcomed telecom regulator's firm stance on its recommendation for huge cuts in the reserve prices of spectrum scheduled to be auctioned late this year of early next year.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) yesterday rejected the government's demand to review its suggestions that the reserve price for spectrum in the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz bands be cut by 60 per cent and 37 per cent, respectively.

COAI contradicts reports blaming cellular towers of high emissions

The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has contradicted the reports claiming that cellular towers emit harmful radiations in Delhi. It said that such reports have no fact or evidence to support their claims and are not accepted in India or in other countries.

The association asked for considering the “holistic review of scientific evidence, and not on the basis of non standard tests or benchmarks or because of any vested or commercial interest, which could paint an alarming, misleading and inaccurate picture of the situation.”
