Financing charge hurts the Worlds largest brewer

Felipe Dutra

The brewer, which makes Budweiser, Bud Light and Stella Artois, Anheuser Busch InBev, the world’s largest brewer announced that its first quarter net profit fell 34 percent as strong sales growth in Brazil was offset by a one time charge taken to refinance the debt it used to buy Anheuser Busch in 2008. It may be noted that the Brazilian economy is growing at between 5 percent and 6 percent with an unemployment rate of 7.6 percent, and the government has raised the minimum wages twice.
