Reliance, Airtel tojoin hands to bring 4G services to Punjab

Reliance partner with Airtel to bring 4th generation (4G) services to the state of Punjab, Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani announced on Monday.

Addressing a gathering at the Indian School of Business (ISB) campus, Mohali, the venue of the Progressive Punjab Summit that kicked off yesterday, Mr. Ambani said that collaborative cooperation between companies could lead to the common goal of delivering value to customers.

Speaking on the topic, Mr. Ambani said, "We are fast entering a new era of collaborative cooperation between companies .. We, me and Sunil (Bharti Mittal), look forward to such a partnership and build and serve an infrastructure and move forward."

He announced his company's plans to invest Rs 2,500 crore to deploy the digital infrastructure for 4G services in Punjab.

Mr. Mittal confirmed that the two companies were zealously working towards deploying the best digital platform for providing 4G services. He added that Airtel would invest Rs 4,000 crore to install the digital infrastructure in the state.

On the first day of the Progressive Punjab Summit, 21 companies signed memoranda for projects worth Rs 53,000 crore with Parkash Singh Badal-led state government. The projects are expected to generate more than one lakh jobs in the state.
