Indian Markets open strong; BSE Sensex up by 500 points

Indian Stock markets opened strong on Wednesday on back of strong global cues. BSE Sensex was up by 506 points at 10.38 a.m. IST. NSE Nifty was higher by 131 points at 4871. NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 4916.

Banking and Real Estate stocks were among major gainers followed by technology counters. Banking major SBI was up by 3.45% in early trades. HDFC was higher by five per cent. HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank were trading strong during first hour of trading. Axis Bank gained 4.5% Rs 754.

Infosys Technologies was up by 4%. Satyam Computers gained 3.2%. Wipro was trading with a gain of 2.2%. The stock was among major losers on NSE yesterday.

Markets are looking strong today and may close with decent gains as Dow Jones and NASDAQ closed strong on Tuesday. Dow Jones Industrial Average was up by 391 points at 12,654 while NASDAQ was up by 3.6% at 2362.
