Hinduja brothers become UK’s richest Asians in 2014
According to a new report, Srichand and Gopichand Hinduja have emerged as the UK's richest Asians in 2014 with total worth of £13.5 billion pounds.
The bothers saw their worth rise one billion pounds over the previous year allowing them to remain above Steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal, who was the second richest Asian in the country. Mittal's net worth also recorded an increase of about £1 billion to a total of £12 billion.
The Asian Rich List, which was released on Friday, showed combined overall net worth of the featured 101 millionaires rose £6.5 billion to £51.5 billion from 2013. The data showed that the leading 10 represented 71 per cent of the total figure.
About 60 out of the total 101 recorded an increase in their net worth and some even saw their net worth doubling in the period. Mining giant Anil Agrawal was ranked third with worth of 2.4 billion pounds followed by Sri Prakash Lohia with a worth of 2 billion pounds. Lord Swraj Paul and Angad Paul listed as 10th richest with wealth amounting to 750 million pounds.
Meanwhile, India's Tata Ltd won the International Business Award as it emerged as the largest industrial employers in the UK.
