Electronic giant Samsung will introduce its latest digital camera this year
Electronic giant Samsung will introduce its latest digital camera this year in the market and claims to capture 20 percent of the market share. The Indian subsidiary company, Samsung India has decided to launch its first ever high-end range of digital camera, the NX10 series, which is available at two slabs, Rs 42,990 and Rs 44,990. Samsung India's spokesperson said that this year, the company will try to expand its digital camera section and is expecting 90% growth in volume.
Samsung aims at capturing 20% of the market share which will be more than last year's 8% market share. She also said that last year, Indian market for digital camera was predicted at 1.2 million units which is expected to reach 1.5 million units by the end of this year. She said that Samsung's digital camera is contributing large amount of sales in the Samsung's annual basket of sales, it has been growing at 80% growth rate annually.
She said that the company is targeting those users who want compact digital cameras, who want to upgrade their skills, who want to reach advance version of photography and for professionals or who are true camera lovers and are passionate for compact and lighter cameras with suitable features and therefore company has decided to launch NX10. In the year 2009, Samsung India recorded total sales of $2.2 billion.
In order to increase its sales, Samsung has decided to tie up with retail outlets other than all consumer electronics shops across the country. Last year, Samsung has shown its presence in the normal camera shops but this year it has decided to expand its presence in the market by joining more retail stores and more consumer electronics shops.
Last year Samsung has tied up with 1500 retail outlets which has increased to 2500 outlets this year , Samsung has decided to join Tata Chroma and Videocon's Next stores for its products. At present, Samsung deals in 31 models of Camera, priced between Rs 6,990 to Rs 44,990.
